Reports in Spain claim that Barcelona are closing in on the signing of PSG defender Lucas Digne. Digne who plays as a left back spent the last season on loan at Italian giants Roma playing in 39 games and scoring 3 goals the most spectacular of which can be seen here. Barcelona had been linked with Digne in the past couple of weeks and now appear to have beaten Liverpool to the left back’s signature.
Reports in Spain claim that the deal was closed for around 12 million euros which would represent a major coup for the Blaugrana, given that Digne joined the Parisians for 15 million euros just 3 seasons ago. Digne joined Roma on loan last season in an attempt to get more playing time after failing to win the spot from ex Barcelona veteran Maxwell. Digne played all 180 minutes against the Blaugrana during the group stage fixtures of the Champions League last season helping the Gilarossi hold Barca to a 1-1 draw in the Stadio Olimpico mostly remember for this spectacular Alessandro Florenzi strike. Roma lost the return game at the Camp Nou 6-1.
The signing would be the second from France’s Euro 2016 squad in the past couple of days following on the signing of centre back Samuel Umtiti today. Unlike Umtiti who played ever minute of the quarter final, semi final and final, Digne did not play a single minute at Euro 2016. The move would most likely spell the end of Adriano’s time at Barcelona who has been linked with a move to Lazio.
