Official: Neymar Extends Barcelona Stay

Neymar Jr. in action for Barcelona

Barcelona’s official website has reported that Neymar Jr. has signed a new 5 year deal at the club. The deal ends months of speculation linking Neymar with moves to Paris St. Germain, Manchester United  and Real Madrid. His father had recently stated that the Brazilian ace would never play for Real Madrid. Only yesterday president Josep Maria Bartomeu had stated that a deal would soon be wrapped up.
According to the site

“The player’s buy out clause has been fixed at 200 million Euros for the first year of his contract, 222 million for the second and 250 million for the remaining three years.”

Reports claim that Neymar’s new salary would be 15 million euros a year which would be below what Lionel Messi earns.

Neymar has been a consistent performer for the Blaugrana over the past 3 seasons scoring more than 30 goals in each of the last 2 seasons memorably against Real Madrid in el Clasico, Juventus in the Champions League final and Sevilla in the Copa del Rey Final.

The move ensures that Barcelona’s MSN trident will keep terrorizing defences across Europe for many more seasons.
